Fraport USA has appointed Michael Mullaney as new Chief Executive Officer.

Mullaney brings over 30 years of aviation experience, spanning concession development, airport operations, aviation consultancy and education.

He succeeds Brett Kelly, Acting CEO and Senior Vice President of Operations who will leave the company at the end of the month.

Most recently, Mullaney served as Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development for Hudson Group, where throughout his 18-year tenor he led the company’s strategic direction, business development, governmental affairs and business diversity divisions.

Prior to Hudson, he oversaw the concession leasing and store reconstruction programmes as Manager of the Commercial and Business Development for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

‘SEASONED INDUSTRY EXPERT’

Balint Szentivanyi, Fraport USA’s Chairman of the Board, said today: “We are very pleased to welcome Michael Mullaney a seasoned industry expert to lead and grow Fraport USA beyond the pandemic.

“At the same time, I would like to thank Brett Kelly for his significant commitment and contributions and for navigating Fraport USA through an exceptionally challenging 2020. We would also like to thank our airport authorities, retail concession operators, ACBE entrepreneurs and all our key stakeholders for their enduring partnership — as we get back to business with renewed vigour and enthusiasm!”

Mullaney commented: “I am incredibly excited to assume this responsibility and lead our exceptionally talented team. Building on our established expertise, Fraport USA will lead the way in this newly evolving aviation environment to deliver new, safe and transformative passenger experiences at airports nationwide.

“We will continue to set the standard for customer-centric airport retail development, management and concession operations.”

Mullaney brings a ‘uniquely rounded’ experience and strong strategic perspective to Fraport USA, according to the company.

He was instrumental in successfully expanding Hudson’s store portfolio to over 1,000 stores at 88 locations generating nearly $2 billion in annual sales and with over $80 million in annual store construction capex.

Additionally, he was a consultant for the planning firms Aviation Planning Associates and TransPlan, Inc. and began his career at the Florida Department of Transportation’s Multimodal System Planning Bureau.

A member of the Airports Council International North America Commercial Management Committee, he also serves on the advisory board of the School of Aeronautics at the Florida Institute of Technology, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management/Flight.
