Haiti airport gateway reopens
By Administrator |
Haiti's gateway Toussaint L'Ouverture airport in Port-au-Prince reopened to commercial air traffic yesterday with the arrival of an American Airlines flight from Miami – the first commercial landing at the airport since the terrible January
12 earthquake.
Air France also resumed services yesterday, as another three American Airlines' arrivals from Miami, Fort Lauderdale and New York also landed in Haiti.
A symbolic red and blue Haitian flag was seen being waved by pilots on the first arrival, although it should be said that American Airlines' subsidiary American Eagle has flown more than 30 relief flights into Haiti since the earthquake killed more than 212,000 people and wrecked the lives of thousands of others.
