Gebr. Heinemann via its 100% subsidiary Heinemann Americas will begin operating 14 shops onboard Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas when it charts its maiden voyage in January.
It will be the fourth Royal Caribbean ship with a Heinemann presence, joining Wonder of the Seas, Odyssey of the Seas and Independence of the Seas.
Nicolas Hoeborn, Managing Director of Heinemann Americas said: “We are delighted that we can continually extend our trusting partnership with Royal Caribbean, and we look forward to making Icon of the Seas a further flagship of our retail activities.
“We bring more than 140 years of logistics and retail management experience to the American cruise market and we are dedicated to inspire passengers on the world’s largest luxury liner with our spectacular assortment and an unforgettable shopping experience.”

Nicolas Hoeborn, Managing Director, Heinemann Americas.
Heinemann has pledged ‘a customised one-of-a-kind retail experience’ on Icon of the Seas, with new elements within retail spaces situated across four decks.
Customised displays and installations will enhance the shopping experience, adds Heinemann, with an assortment spanning perfume & cosmetics, liquor, tobacco & confectionery, watches and jewellery, fashion apparel, accessories and more.
The cruise and ferries market accounted for a 5% share of Gebr. Heinemann’s €3,068 million retail turnover in 2022, as reported.
It retails on 19 cruise ships and supplies 240 cruise ships and ferries, while as a wholesaler Heinemann supplies 16 ferry companies with a focus on Northern Europe.
In March 2022, Royal Caribbean’s ‘Wonder of the Seas’ made her maiden voyage with Heinemann.
The travel retailer runs seven shops onboard the vessel capable of handling 6,680 passengers and around 2,400 crew members.
