Hudson opens six outlets at Tucson International Airport

By Doug Newhouse |

 – TRBusinessThe Hudson Group has opened three stores and three kiosks at Tucson International Airport featuring the retail concepts of Hudson, Tech on the Go and Ink by Hudson.

The wholly-owned retail subsidiary of the Dufry Group has partnered with Poravion, LLC and Cambios y Servicios Inc. to deliver the new outlets which collectively account for more than 6,100sq ft.

Describing the new offerings, Dufry says Ink by Hudson is a core offer of books which was originally created as a cultural hub for the airport community on a 1,000sq ft Concourse B site.

The ‘Tucson-inspired’ store – complete with south-west imagery – features a special assortment of best-selling books and small press titles, plus ‘a unique selection’ of toys, stationery, fashion, artwork, travel essentials and indulgences. This concept was first launched at Dallas Love Field International Airport in 2016.

As a concept, Dufry says that Ink by Hudson represents the latest expressive evolution of Hudson Booksellers – which is obviously owned by the Hudson Group.

Another new outlet is Hudson Ft. Lowell which is also located on Concourse B. This is a 2,000sq ft travel essentials and convenience sundry shop, inspired by Hudson Group’s iconic Hudson News brand.

It sells travel retail essentials such as books, magazines, snacks and beverages, plus local souvenirs and electronics.

It also houses a large Arizona Sports shop-in-shop for sports fans to top up their favourite logo clothing and memorabilia.

In addition, Hudson Gates Pass is described as a 2,529sq ft travel essentials and convenience store on Concourse A which is inspired by and pays tribute to the Tucson Mountains’ Gates Pass.

This offers customer convenience, plus a large Tech on the Go shop-in-shop, an expanded Destinations regional gifts and souvenirs selection and fresh, healthy grab-and-go salads and sandwiches.

Last, but not least, Mission Market on Concourse B consists of three kiosks offering 600sq ft Belkin (electronics specialty store); Sunglass Icon (a high-end sunglass retail shop); and Spirit (Native American and Western specialty store).

The Hudson Group says it also expects to open a new Arroyo Trading Post and Tucson Tienditas outlet in the fall.
