The International Association of Airport and Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) and Asociación Sudamericana de Tiendas Libres (ASUTIL) have confirmed the addition of Jane Ewing, Senior Vice President Sustainability, Walmart as a speaker for the upcoming virtual 2021 Summit of the Americas (5-9 April 2021).
Ewing leads Walmart’s sustainability team and efforts, which prioritise people and the planet by aiming to source responsibly, sell sustainable products, restore natural resources and reduce waste and emissions.
These initiatives will be discussed in a special session at the Summit, which will address sustainability as a core business value in retail and travel retail.
Ewing joins a host of newly confirmed speakers from across the Americas who will speak as part of the virtual Knowledge Hub, which will host a daily selection of keynote addresses.
She is well known in DF&TR having spent 20 years at Diageo, where she held several roles including Managing Director, Global Travel & Middle East.
Other newly confirmed speakers include Martín Eurnekian, Chief Executive Officer of Corporación América Airports; Hudson CEO Roger Fordyce; ARI-North America General Manager Jackie McDonagh; Motta Internacional Senior Vice President Aurelio Barria; Midway Partnership CEO (and Vantage Airport Group Chief Commercial Officer) Sammy Patel; and PT&M Managing Director Eric Trichot.
Earlier this month it was announced that Paradies Lagardère President & CEO Gregg Paradies; Dufry General Manager Sub-Cluster South America Enrique Urioste; Neutral by Luryx Duty Free Shop CEO Marcelo Montico; Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Duty Free President Abe Taqtaq; Starboard Cruise Services President & CEO Lisa Bauer; Harding Retail Deputy Managing Director Mark Birnie; Heinemann Americas CEO Nadine Heubel, Stellar Partners CEO Padraig Drennan; and International Shoppes Director Matthew Greenbaum would all be participating.
Further themes to be explored at the Summit include the reshaping of the airport experience, changing consumer demand, digitalisation and diversity and inclusion. There will also be sessions which analyse travel prospects for the region and the economic outlook.
