JFK International Air Terminal (JFKIAT) and partner Hudson Group have unveiled three reimagined retail concepts in John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) Terminal 4.

Designed as immersive tributes to Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx, these new Hudson locations aim to showcase the best of New York’s makers, artisans, and cultural institutions, offering travellers an authentic sense of place from the moment they arrive at the terminal.

JFKIAT and Hudson worked closely to transform convenience stores into tailored marketplaces: Manhattan Mercantile, Brooklyn-inspired East River Market, and 149th & Grand, representing the Bronx. Each outlet features its own architectural identity, product mix, and cultural cues tied to its namesake borough.

Beyond traditional retail, these concepts are designed as storytelling spaces, connecting passengers to New York’s creative and culinary communities through curated merchandise, artisanal goods, and diverse food and beverage selections.

JFKIAT progresses T4 North Star vision

Terminal 4 is a key component of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s US$19bn planned transformation of JFK Airport into a world-class gateway. This will include two new terminals; the modernisation and expansion of two existing terminals; a new ground transportation centre; and an entirely new, simplified roadway network.

This initiative is part of JFKIAT’s North Star strategic plan, developed in collaboration with airline and business partners. At the heart of this vision is a commitment to local connection – celebrating New York’s diversity, neighbourhoods, and communities through F&B and retail offerings. These openings build upon JFKIAT’s recently announced line-up of New York–based dining concepts, including Eataly, Chopt, Boqueria, and Villa Russo.

Beyond traditional retail, the concepts are designed as storytelling spaces, connecting passengers to New York’s creative and culinary communities.

“The launch of these three Hudson locations represents the best of what partnership can achieve,” noted JFKIAT Chief Executive Officer Roel Huinink. “Together with Hudson, we have reimagined what airport retail can be – spaces that not only reflect the vibrant character of New York’s boroughs, but also create new opportunities for local entrepreneurs and small businesses to reach millions of travellers from around the world. This collaboration allows us to deliver a truly world-class, locally inspired experience that is both intuitive for passengers and deeply connected to our city.”

“The new Hudson locations embody the spirit and diversity of New York City,” commented JFK International Airport General Manager Teresa Rizzuto. “We’re proud to work with our partners to continue setting the standard for what modern airports can be by celebrating local culture while delivering a world-class passenger experience.”

“Hudson is proud to partner with JFKIAT on this ground-breaking project, which highlights the power of collaboration to redefine the travel experience,” added Hudson VP Development Bridget Biagas. “These new concepts embody everything that makes New York special – its culture, its creativity, and its communities.

“By bringing together world-class design with authentic local products, we’re not only elevating the passenger journey, but also amplifying the voices of New York’s makers, artisans, and small businesses on a global stage. Together with JFKIAT, we’re setting a new standard for what locally inspired airport retail can be.”
