James Fazio, the current Chief Operations Officer of JFKIAT, the operator of Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, has been appointed as CEO of Aruba Airport Authority effective 1 September, 2014.

 

Aruba AA is the company that manages Reina Beatrix International Airport, where Dufry operates the key concessions and which processed 1.1m passengers in 2013 (excluding private jets). Driving growth at the airport in the first quarter of 2014 has been traffic from Latin America, up +16%.

 

Fazio joined JFKIAT – a partly-owned subsidiary of Schiphol USA, an indirect US subsidiary of Schiphol Group – in 1997, having previously worked for The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He succeeds Peter Steinmetz, who has held the post since 2004.  Steinmetz will be joining Stockholm Skavsta Airport in Sweden as CEO.

Aruba Airport Authority has had a strategic cooperation agreement with Schiphol Group since April 2004.

 

The deal focuses on making maximum use of Reina Beatrix’s commercial potential, strengthening its financial position and developing the facilities on and around the airport to make it a leading gateway in the Caribbean.
