Lagardère Travel Retail brings Fito Espinosa concept to Lima Airport

The space showcases Espinosa’s contemporary Peruvian art across a range of formats.

Lagardère Travel Retail Peru has partnered with Lima Airport Partners to open a new space dedicated to Peruvian artist Fito Espinosa at Jorge Chávez International Airport, in what is believed to be the first concept of its kind within a duty free store in Latin America.

Opened on 11 August in the airport’s international departures area, the space showcases Espinosa’s contemporary Peruvian art across a range of formats, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, porcelain and jewellery. Travellers can also discover limited-edition pieces created in collaboration with Peruvian brands and craftspeople, extending the concept beyond traditional artworks into design and lifestyle products.

The award-winning artist is known for work exploring themes including sensitivity, spirituality, nature and connection with the inner world, with his creative universe having expanded beyond galleries into a wider design and lifestyle brand.

Lagardère Travel Retail said the opening forms part of its strategy to move beyond traditional airport retail by using its spaces as platforms for culture and local talent. The concept also aims to give international travellers greater exposure to contemporary Peruvian creativity while strengthening the sense of place within the airport’s retail offer.

Miguel Ruiz, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Peru, said: “We are very proud to work with one of Peru’s most recognised artists to bring contemporary Peruvian culture to Lima Jorge Chávez International Airport. We believe this is the first concept of its type in Latin American duty free, illustrating our determination, alongside Lima Airport Partners, to create a truly unique retail offer. Fito Espinosa’s work encapsulates the Peruvian spirit and we are delighted to help bring his work to an international audience.”

The retailer said the opening also positions the new Jorge Chávez International Airport as a platform for showcasing Peruvian culture and creativity to international travellers.
