A life-sized Lego model of an airline pilot made from 45,033 bricks has been unveiled outside the Lego store at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 4 by operator JFKIAT and DFS.
Located in the Retail Lounge, the six-foot model is one of only two such creations in the world (the other is located at Berlin Airport.)
“We are excited that the brand-new Lego store – and the life-sized model – have arrived at T4, bringing a unique New York City experience for our customers to enjoy,” said Ed Midgley, VP of Customer Experience and Commercial at JFKIAT.
“This is our latest experiential installation at T4 as we welcome back more passengers this summer, and we hope that everyone traveling through the terminal will stop by, take photos, and check out the Lego store.”
Families and passengers of all ages are being encouraged to snap photos with the model and to share their favourites on social media, tagging T4.
Located in the Retail Lounge, the store is one of the terminal’s newest offerings and is DFS’ first Lego branded retail store at JFK T4.
“DFS is delighted to have brought the Lego Airport Store to JFK Terminal 4,” said Timothy Bidmead, DFS Group General Manager, DFS, John F. Kennedy International Airport.
“Since opening in December, Lego has quickly become one of our top brands and is popular with adults and children alike.
“The addition of the Lego Pilot is a unique way to guide passengers to the store and sets the tone for a fun and exciting shopping experience.”
At the store, shoppers can discover exclusive New York City themed products, including a Lego Architecture Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building sets, as well as the brand’s most popular offerings, such as Lego Star Wars, Friends Toys and more.
It forms part of the terminal’s upscale shopping and dining offering, spread across its 122,200 square feet of space.
John F. Kennedy International Airport is one of the most active air terminals in the New York area with an annual passenger volume of more than 21 million travellers in 2019.
