New Chicago O’Hare International Terminal 5 Video Preview

O’Hare Terminal 5 Concessions manager Westfield has released a video ‘sneak peek’ of the new international terminal 5 (T5) at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
The video offers a preview of the massive transformation of T5. The $26m redevelopment programme features more than 18 new restaurants and ‘luxury retail’ shops – including 11 local Chicago brands – cutting-edge design and world-class amenities.
As previously reported, 95% of the terminal’s dining and retail options were located pre-security, making it difficult for passengers to access dining and shopping while waiting for flights.
O’Hare, which is the fifth busiest airport in the world (in terms of total passenger traffic) says that the redeveloped terminal will offer a re-engineered layout, including a new TSA checkpoint and a ‘European-style pass-through duty-free shop’.
Recent openings in O’Hare Terminal 5 include shops from Swatch, Hudson News and Dufry – all located post-security ‘to enhance the traveller experience’.
The New T5 showcases local airport ‘firsts’ like Italian eatery Tocco, artisanal market Goddess & Grocer and five concepts by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, including Hub 51, Big Bowl, and Wow Bao; a new 10,000-square-foot European-style, duty-free shop, a first of its kind in North America through which all departing passengers pass after clearing the new TSA checkpoint; and luxury boutiques like Salvatore Ferragamo and a luxury watch shop.
Serving as the first and last impression of Chicago to millions of international travelers annually, the new Terminal 5 revolutionizes the traveler experience. Prior to the redevelopment, 95 percent of the terminal’s dining and retail options were located pre-security, making it difficult for travelers to access dining and shopping while waiting for flights.
