Nuance to open large store
By Administrator |
Nuance North America will open three new duty free shops at Toronto Pearson International Airport this month, including Canada's largest in Terminal 1's new international Pier F.
Scheduled to open on January 30, the new 600-metre pier will take traffic from Pearson's 35-year old run down Terminal 2, including all of Air Canada's international and cross-border flights. United Airlines, US Airways and many of Air Canada's Star Alliance partners will also use the new pier.
The opening is a key part of Pearson's ongoing, $4.4bn expansion project and is very good news for its duty free operator Nuance, which won a ten-year contract to retain its position at the airport back in 2003. Nuance has already opened several new shops in other terminal locations at the airport under this contract.
The operator should benefit from greater efficiencies at the new facility which include 682 metres of moving walkways; 78 trans-border check-in counters; 56 international check-in counters; 25 new international gates; and a promise of no bussing to aircraft, so alleviating the need for early calls to gates.
The new expansion will increase Pearson's annual passenger handling capacity to 38m which is 7m more than the record 31m handled in 2006.
