The PPE vending machines offer practical items to keep travellers safe in a Covid-19 environment.

Dufry-owned Hudson Group has reacted to increased traveller sensitivity around health and safety by introducing personal protective equipment (PPE) vending machines and new products to the ‘Traveler’s Best’ range.

PPE vending machines will roll out to 27 airports across North America from late June onwards.

ADA compliant, the machines will be located pre-security, offering passengers and airport staff a convenient option to help protect themselves and those around them.

Each vending machine will stock essential products as part of the travel retailer’s expanded ‘Traveler’s Best’ line and will be available to buy using a credit card.

PRODUCT/TECHNOLOGY CHOICE

The vending machines’ touchscreens will be sealed with an anti-microbial shield that destroys germs on the surface.

To promote social distancing, floor markings will feature near the machines.

Passengers can purchase individual and bulk packaged face masks (including disposable, KN95 and cloth options); individual 2 oz. and 4oz. hand sanitiser and bulk hand sanitiser wipes; all-in-one hygiene kits; nitrile gloves and multi-use thermometers; and portable and rechargeable UV-C sanitisers for personal items and mobile phones.

The products can be bought at Hudson’s travel convenience outposts.

At some airports, brand name electronics and travel essentials such as charging cables and wireless headphones can also be purchased from the vending machines.

Brian Quinn, EVP and Chief Operating Officer of Hudson said: “With the gradual return of passengers to airports across North America following Covid-19, we’re noticing a behavioural change in travellers which puts health and safety at the forefront of the travel experience.

“To meet these expectations, we’ve developed an extensive product offering as part of our PPE vending machines that delivers traditional and technology-focused health and safety options.”
