Rouge Duty Free brings new stores to Sint Maarten in the Caribbean

By Luke Barras-hill |

The new Rouge Duty Free store on Front Street in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten features a wealth of luxury brands.

Rouge Duty Free is set to open three duty free stores in Sint Maarten tomorrow (15 October).

The shops are situated in the heart of the port and shopping district of the Caribbean island territory controlled by The Netherlands.

One store is located at the pier, used to tender passengers, making it one of the busiest spots on the island.

The second store is at Bobby’s Marina, also used as a dock for cruise tenders and excursions, including the ferry to the island of St.Barth.

Meanwhile, the third store is on Front Street, strategically positioned next to several boutique shopping outlets.

Raymond Kattoura, Director of Purchasing/Operation at Kattoura Duty Free and Travel Retail Group, which helps oversee the Rouge Duty Free Caribbean business, told TRBusiness: “The opening of the Sint Maarten stores not only gives us a great position on the island, but it also solidifies the company’s position in the Caribbean region as a whole.”

The addition of the new points of sale means Rouge Duty Free now operates 11 duty free stores in the Caribbean on the islands of St. Thomas, St. Croix, Grenada, Grand Cayman and now Sint Maarten.

As reported, Rouge Duty Free opened its second location in the US Virgin Islands this year with a new luxury and beauty store in St. Croix.

Rouge Duty Free inaugurated its 1,400sq ft shop in Orange Glove Plaza, Christiansted, St. Croix, earlier this year. A second St. Croix location is due to be added by the end of 2021. Pictured is Raymond Kattoura of Kattoura Duty Free and Travel Retail Group.

A second St. Croix location will be added by the end of this year, bringing the total number of Rouge Duty Free shops to 12.

“Rouge is on its way to becoming one of the largest duty free chains in the region,” added Kattoura.

In the same breath, Kattoura says Rouge Duty Free is in ‘expansion mode’ in the Caribbean and is targeting three more islands and more store openings as early as next year.
