A new duty free shop has opened its doors at the Canawaima ferry terminal in Moleson Creek, Guyana.
The store, operated by Simextra Group, stocks a variety of merchandise and serves travellers on the important Courantyne River crossing between Guyana and Suriname.
Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill joined other officials at an opening ceremony on Friday (18 August), according to the Department of Public information.
Investment in Simextra Group’s sixth location is designed to support and promote Guyana’s tourism opportunities, read a statement.
Simextra Group’s website is currently ‘under construction’, but the company’s LinkedIn account describes itself as involved in wholesale import and export activities.
‘Simextra Group N.V. has evolved from humble beginnings in the commodities wholesale into a multi-category enterprise,” read a note. “We are a stable and reliable partner with long-term experience in engaging and growing the domestic and global travel retail markets.”
