Sunglass Hut plans shop-in-shops at Hudson stores in North America

HudsonBurlington18Luxottica Group has formed a new strategic venture with Dufry-owned Hudson Group that opens the door for Sunglass Hut to spotlight at the North American travel retailer’s shops.

As part of the partnership, Sunglass Hut will open 250 shop-in-shops through Hudson’s network of eponymous outlets and convenience concepts.

Following a successful pilot at Richmond International Airport earlier this year, Hudson plans to open nine more Sunglass Hut shop-in-shops by August in a phased approach continuing into 2022.

In a statement, Hudson says that while the size of the shop-in-shops will vary, they will all offer an engaging shopping experience associated with Sunglass Hut, complete with eye-catching displays and the opportunity to test the products.


Travellers will be able to peruse collections from Ray-Ban, including its iconic aviator sunglasses, and Oakley’s sports and performance sunglasses.

Luxottica’s advanced business model STARS will manage stock inventory levels and assortments to maximise sales.

“We’ve always known that eyewear and travel are intrinsically linked, making them an essential part of our core market offerings,” commented Brian Quinn, EVP and Chief Operating Officer at Hudson Group.

“Through our partnership with Luxottica and Sunglass Hut, we’re creating an eyewear shopping destination with top brands for our customers inside our travel convenience concepts.”

Giorgio Praide, General Manager of North America, Sunglass Hut added: “We know that the combination of Luxottica sunglasses, training and inventory management, with Hudson’s retail operational excellence will provide travellers on the go with a convenient way to shop for the premium eyewear they know and love.”

Eyewear is already a part of Hudson Group’s speciality fashion range. The company operates its proprietary sunglass and accessory store 5th and Sunset and standalone Sunglass Hut stores in certain airports.
