Visa and Duty Free Americas extend partnership across Latin America
By Naomi Chadderton |
Visa and Duty Free Americas (DFA) are taking their partnership into a fourth consecutive year, expanding cardholder benefits across airports and, for the first time, border stores in Central America and the Caribbean.
The renewed agreement covers DFA-operated duty-free stores, convenience stores, bars and restaurants at key travel locations in Panama, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
Among them are Terminals 1 and 2 at Tocumen International Airport in Panama and Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic, where the programme will be available to both arriving and departing travellers.
This year also sees the partnership move beyond the airport environment to include DFA’s Paso Canoas store on the Panama-Costa Rica border, one of the region’s busiest border crossings.
At participating Duty Free Americas stores, Visa credit, debit and prepaid cardholders will receive a 10% discount when spending more than US$200. The benefit applies to Visa cards issued worldwide and covers categories including beauty, fashion, jewellery, wines and spirits, food and gifting. Further benefits are available at participating restaurants and bars, varying by location.
Santi Rega, Senior Director of Cross-Border Business Development for Latin America and the Caribbean at Visa, said: “We are pleased to celebrate the fourth renewal of our alliance with Duty Free Americas, a pioneering programme that marked the beginning of multiple cross-border payment initiatives across the region. We are proud to continue collaborating with DFA to deliver relevant, real-time experiences to travellers in key destinations such as Tocumen International Airport in Panama and Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic.”
Dov Falic, Vice President of Duty Free Americas, added: “Our collaboration with Visa is redefining airport and border retail. As we enter our fourth consecutive year of partnership, we are proud to expand the programme into border stores for the first time, bringing Visa cardholder benefits to travellers across Latin America. We look forward to continuing to grow this partnership and delivering greater value to our customers.”
