Registration is now open for TRBusiness’ Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) webinar on Wednesday June 29 at 9am (UTC +1), which will shine a light on disability inclusion in the travel retail industry.
The free-to-attend, 90-minute webinar features an impressive line-up of experts on disability awareness and education, Generation Z consumer insights specialists, and travel retail industry executives with direct experience of implementing D&I programmes.
Together, they will share how companies of all sizes can and should educate senior management and the wider workforce on integrating disabled people into teams.
In addition, the presenters will cover how companies and service providers can help to make the travel retail experience more accessible and inclusive.
The webinar, moderated by TRBusiness Managing Editor Luke Barras-Hill and Head of CSR and Events, Michael Barrett, will also reveal how consumers perceive the diversity and inclusion efforts of brands that are active in the channel.
“We first raised the important topic of diversity and inclusion during TR Sustainability Week in April,” said Michael Barrett, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Events at TRBusiness, who previously operated an NGO with all-ability and adaptive sports programmes in Cambodia.
“This additional webinar allows us to expand on this important conversation and will serve to specifically highlight how raising awareness and sharing best practice is a vital step towards the travel retail industry becoming more accessible and inclusive for disabled people.
“The adoption of ability-inclusive policies occurs at a vastly different speeds from one market to the next,” he continued.
“Travel retail industry stakeholders have both the opportunity and responsibility to take the lead and ensure both infrastructure and mindsets are geared towards integrating and catering for disabled people and that staff are appropriately trained.”
A FIRST LOOK AT THE PROGRAMME
The TRBusiness Diversity & Inclusion in Travel Retail webinar on 29 June will feature award winning industry executive Hilal Kahraman, IGA Istanbul Airport’s Passenger Experience Design Chief, who will share, alongside her colleague Seben Ayşe Dayı, how the airport has adapted to become accessible to disabled people.
Kahraman, who won the 2021 Customer Experience Professionals Association Impact Award, and Dayı, who has cerebral palsy, will also reveal how the airport has integrated disabled people within the team, trained staff on their needs and expectations and found ways to make the airport experience more accessible to all.
Also speaking is Goods To Know Founder & President Fabienne Raynaud, who set up her diversity and inclusion consultancy in 2013 with a view to educating management teams on disability in the workplace and demonstrating how teams with greater diversity can be a springboard for innovation.
The consultancy provides a variety of methodologies, including gamification tools to help increase awareness of disability and educate executives and their teams.
Stephenie Rodriguez, founder of Wandersafe, will also feature among the panellists to share her experiences.
Rodriguez had both of her feet amputated due to complications from contracting cerebral malaria from a mosquito bite when on a trip to Africa in 2019.
The entrepreneur, speaker and author will share her perspective as both a travel retail industry professional and a consumer on how adaptive the industry is.
Another highlight is Cat Agostinho, another award winning executive for her work on talent promotion and Co-founder of Imagen Insights.
She will share the importance young people place on diversity in all its forms when shopping or engaging with service providers through the GenZ insights agency’s research with multiple clients across all sectors.
Agostinho will also discuss her mission to support young people and provide them with opportunities regardless of their background and explain how the business she co-founded also champions a culture of inclusivity.
The webinar, part of the TRBusiness-curated Sustainability Forum, is being hosted in association with Kounter, a BlueDog Group company, which is the exclusive production and streaming partner for the event.
The session is also kindly sponsored by Beam Suntory, Diageo and JTI.
