TR Sustainability Week: New platform for innovator & circular-economy brands

VIDEO INTERVIEW: Dutch sales agency Brands of Style has officially launched its Travel Retail Bespoke global travel retail (GTR) buyers platform and Founder/Owner Elena Bloothoofd has given TRBusiness an exclusive insight into the new initiative.

The specialist platform – www.TravelRetailBespoke.com – is designed to introduce GTR-ready brands to the channel and is currently home to 20 challenger and creator-owned brands across beauty & wellness, food & drink, spirits, fashion accessories and sustainable services.

“We are being asked by many of our travel retail buyers to offer newness and sustainability for their portfolios, so it’s perfect timing to be representing a great range of innovator and circular-economy brands as the travel retail market is now ready for challengers,” explained Bloothoofd.

“Our remit is to help them to spread the word about their unique and sustainable products, and to be exploring new opportunities in all of travel retail’s diverse channels, on their behalf.”

In this video update, filmed for the TRBusiness Sustainability Issue prior to the platform’s official unveiling, Bloothoofd shares a deeper insight into the “exciting but non-stop” launch process.

In conversation with TRBusiness’ Faye Bartle, Bloothoofd shares the stories behind some of the brands. Plus, she paints a picture of her childhood experiences, including her appreciation for different cultures, and how this sparked her passion for sustainability.

“I am challenging the buyers and I am challenging the mindset of travel retail, because I think it important to have a much wider scope of what it is you are looking to present to your consumer,” she said.

When it comes to discovering new products, she advised decision-makers to “taste it, feel it and try it, and then make your own opinion, because the consumer is asking for it so they must be doing something right”.

Among the roster of brands joining the Travel Retail Bespoke fold are: Londontown, an organic and vegan, clean nail care line; the KORA Organics skincare range, founded by Miranda Kerr; Slick Gorilla hair styling brand; and Sandell Watches, featuring an eco-friendly choice of vegan straps made from recycled materials.

Travel Retail Bespoke launches with 20 challenger and creator-owned brands from a wide range of categories and sustainable services partners.

Early feedback from the GTR buying community has been positive.
