As reported by TRBusiness, the 14m-capacity terminal that adjoins Departure Hall 1 and Arrival Hall 1 will feature new opportunities for the retail business, as the operator looks to strengthen its competitive position within European aviation.

The planned expansion forms part of the airport’s Capital Programme, which includes a new pier alongside the terminal opening.

Schiphol Airport CEO Jos Nijhuis said: “The design provides a sense of unity by fully integrating into the existing airport. It follows very human-centric principles that fit without our one-terminal concept. The terminal will have an ease and simplicity of space. From our perspective, all of these elements combine to fit within Schiphol’s DNA. It is practical, functional and graceful.”

The airport handled 63.6m passengers last year.
