These targets are aligned with SBTi’s most recent requirements — currently among the most demanding frameworks in corporate climate target setting.

Lagardère Travel Retail has announced that its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets have been officially approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), confirming that the company’s commitments are aligned with the most stringent scientific criteria to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

The SBTi’s approval marks an important milestone in Lagardère Travel Retail’s sustainability journey, reinforcing its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions along its entire value chain: Lagardère Travel Retail commits to reduce its direct greenhouse gas emissions (scope 1 and 2) 42% by 2030 from a 2024 base year; it also commits to reduce its indirect greenhouse gas emissions (scope 3) 25% within the same timeframe.

The validation of these reduction objectives under such rigorous standards demonstrates the credibility and ambition of our company’s decarbonisation roadmap.

Through its global CSR strategy PEPS (Planet. Ethics. People. Social), Lagardère Travel Retail is deploying clear, measurable and impactful actions to reduce its environmental footprint, promote ethical business practices, support its people and engage with local communities.

These efforts are being rolled out not only across the company’s own operations, but also in collaboration with its partners, in a shared ambition to transform the travel retail industry.

Frédéric Chevalier, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail, commented: “This validation by the SBTi confirms the strength and ambition of our climate strategy. At Lagardère Travel Retail, we are committed to taking a leadership role in the sustainable transformation of our industry, embedding environmental responsibility at the heart of our growth model. It is a firm commitment, essential to securing a more sustainable operations for our customers, partners, brand partners, and future generations.”
