Munich Airport (MUC) has welcomed a new monobrand store from haute chocolatier Sprüngli.
Following the success of a pop-up shop, the Swiss manufacturer of Grand Cru chocolate has settled in a permanent location at the departures area of Terminal 2.
Open daily from 06:00 – 21:00, the shop merchandises a handmade assortment of pralines and truffles, fresh broken and bar chocolate and its renowned Luxemburgerli (macarons).
“We welcome Confiserie Sprüngli and are delighted that Munich Airport is their first European retail store outside Switzerland,” said Dr. Jan-Henrik Andersson, Chief Commercial Officer at Munich Airport.
Sven Zahn, Managing Director of MUC retailer Eurotrade, commented: “We are very happy that after successful pop-up staging, Sprüngli is now returning to Munich Airport with a permanent location.
“The fresh Sprüngli chocolates enrich our exclusive airport offering with first-class quality indulgence and enhance passengers’ shopping experience at Europe’s only five-star airport.”
Tomas Prenosil, CEO, Sprüngli said: “Munich Airport is the ideal location for us to present our haute chocolaterie – indulgent chocolates created with passion and in artisan tradition. As a Swiss premium brand, we share common values such as a holistic approach to quality and service as well as a sense of exclusivity and innovation.”
Swiss chocolatier Sprüngli was born in 1836 when David Sprüngli opened the Confiserie Sprüngli & Fils on Marktgasse in Zurich.
The master chocolatier has made an important contribution to the appeal of Swiss chocolate globally through its handcrafted confections and focus on using natural ingredients such as Swiss milk, sustainable cocoa cultivation and fair manufacturing.
