A total of 23 new stores are being added to the International Departures Area at KIX Terminal 1.
Kansai Airports has announced the lineup of new retail and F&B tenants for the International Departures Area at Kansai International Airport (KIX) Terminal 1, as part of its final Phase 4 renovation project.
A total of 23 new stores (16 for goods and seven for F&B) are being added to the newly renovated area, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.
It marks the completion of KIX’s T1 renovation process, which has been carried out in stages since 2021, with the aim of expanding international flight capacity, enhancing airside areas and improving the passenger experience.
The main functions were completed in March 2025, prior to the opening of the Osaka/Kansai Expo, giving passengers a more ‘comfortable and convenient’ journey through the airport and also setting the stage for the expected future growth in aviation traffic.
The international departure area commenced operations in December 2023, and is now being further expanded with this latest wave of stores.
New stores on the wall side area, also known as the brand boutique, include Burberry, Loewe, Gentle Monster (marking the ashion eyewear brand’s first store in a Japanese airport), Swatch, Omega, Tiffany & Co., Issey Miyake and Moncler.
Elsewhere, there’s new business style Wolfgang Puck Kitchen Counter, a Crystal Jade – La Mian Xiao Long Bao (the first in Kansai) and a Uniqlo store, plus more.
In the ‘fun mood’ area, highlights include the Sakura Voyage pop and souvenir items shop and a Universal Studio Store while, over in the peaceful mood area’, shoppers will encounter a Beppinsan health and beauty specialty store, and Fukujuen Uji tea experience, among other outlets.

Kansai Airports Group says it will ‘continue to collaborate with stakeholders to create new travel experiences as a gateway to the Kansai region, welcoming domestic and international passengers’.
As part of the developments mentioned above, Avolta is marking its entry into Japan, confirming an F&B contract across 500sqm at KIX to introduce four distinct F&B concepts, including the aforementioned Wolfgang Puck, as well as a Crystal Jade and FRESH by Avolta.
“This marks a significant milestone in the company’s strategic expansion across the Asia Pacific region,” said Freda Cheung, President and CEO Asia Pacific at Avolta.
“We are proud to establish a presence at Kansai International Airport, one of Japan’s most critical aviation gateways.
“Our portfolio of global and proprietary F&B concepts has been carefully curated to complement KIX’s existing offers. With that, we aim to deliver an amazing traveller experience and strengthen our position as a trusted partner in the region.”
Avolta’s new outlets at the hub are designed to meet the evolving preferences of international and domestic travellers, with its space set to feature open-plan seating, warm lighting, and a menu that reflects both Western and Asian influences.
“We are delighted to have the world’s leading travel experience company bring modern yet authentic F&B offerings to Kansai International Airport,” said Fumio Owada, Corporate Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer (Non Aeronautical), Kansai Airports.
“We share the same vision to deliver exceptional customer service, leveraging global expertise to create a seamless and inspirational airport experience. We look forward to this exciting journey and partnership with Avolta.”
