Mars ITR ‘delighted’ to back 2019 Travel Retail Awards

By Charlotte Turner |

MARSMars Wrigley International Travel Retail has once again committed to supporting The Travel Retail Awards – the first and only consumer-voted awards for the duty free & travel retail industry – as a Platinum Sponsor. The next event will take place in Singapore during the 2019 TFWA Asia Pacific Conference and Exhibition.

Citing the awards as an ‘essential tool’ offering ‘honest’ and ‘relevant opinions’ from the people that matter the most – the end-consumer – Mars are delighted to renew their support of the TRBusiness and m1nd-set joint venture initiative.

“Mars Wrigley International Travel Retail is delighted to sponsor the Travel Retail Awards again in 2019,” says Raghav Rekhi, Category Director.

“As the leading supplier of confectionery to the global travel retail market, Mars Wrigley ITR is committed to understanding the reasons why consumers shop for confectionery and meeting traveller needs with a brand portfolio that has universal appeal.

“The Travel Retail Awards provides an essential tool for all of us to gauge that we are on the right track through a voting matrix that involves consumers giving honest and relevant opinion, insight and comment.

“As an industry we need to take more notice of what consumers want from travel retail shopping; these awards are one way for us to do that with and we’re delighted to support this initiative.”

REAPING RETAIL REWARDS

As reported, following its quadruple win at the Travel Retail Awards in May, Singapore Changi Airport, together with its retail and supplier partners have fully supported the initiative through powerful unified promotions across its terminals.

In addition, numerous finalists and winners have witnessed significant sales uplift since the awards in May after placing the all important Travel Retail Awards logo on their product packaging.

TRBusiness created the awards with the support of its data partner m1nd-set to facilitate a direct channel of communication between consumers and the DF&TR industry, through which travellers can provide honest, quality feedback to airports and suppliers.

The result is two-fold; not only do entrants receive crucial, unbiased feedback on their products and shopping environments, but the event also provides exposure for the industry as a whole, broadening its appeal to the end-consumer, and emphasising that shopping really does play an essential role in the passengers’ overall travel experience.

UNLOCKING KEY INFORMATION

Toscow-Travel-Reatil-Awards-quoteThe feedback provided to all entrants comes in the form of a detailed confidential consumer insight document from m1nd-set, which unlocks a wealth of information for suppliers with which they are able to tailor their products in order to cater for the specific needs of those shopping in the duty free environment.

“We would like to thank Mars for their continued support of the Travel Retail Awards,” says Ben Webb, Commercial Sales Manager, TRBusiness.

“The initiative was launched, with the support of Mars Wrigley International Travel Retail (and other key industry stakeholders), just over one year ago and has already succeeded in uniting all stakeholders across multiple channels.

“With the support of its sponsors; suppliers, distributors, airlines, concessionaires, airport retailers, airports and other channels the Travel Retail Awards facilitates a powerful dialog with the most important members of our industry; the travelling consumers.

“The 2019 Awards is already shaping up to deliver an impactful, positive and meaningful change to our ever-involving industry. Mars Wrigley International Travel Retail has a mission to take the largest global confectionery brands to travellers and bring a smile to every journey and we’re delighted that the Travel Retail Awards is helping the company to achieve this goal.”

Awards entries will be opening within the next few weeks with a new and simplified online entry system. Look out for an announcement on the website in due course.
