Avolta boosts Australian presence with Perth Airport retail transformation
By Trbusiness Editor |
Avolta has unveiled its newly refurbished duty free store at Perth Airport, marking a significant milestone in its long-term commitment to the Australian market.
The transformation is part of the renewal and expansion of Avolta’s duty-free concession at Perth Airport to 2031, announced last year.
The refurbishment spans four stores across Terminals 1 and 3, with the latest upgrades focused on departures and arrivals at T1. The result is described as a premium walkthrough retail environment that is light-filled and immersive, reflecting Western Australia’s unique character.
Avolta centres sense of place
At the heart of this transformation, and created exclusively for Perth Duty Free, is Avolta’s proprietary concept, “Exploring”. With packaging designed by a local artist to showcase Perth’s landmarks, this collection anchors a strong sense of place, featuring high quality products made from locally sourced Australian ingredients.
The store’s design is inspired by the Six Seasons of the Noongar people, the traditional owners of the land on which Perth Airport sits. Designed by the Noongar people’s Six Seasons, each season – Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambarang – is represented through six different sections in-store through imagery, colour, light and materials, embedding an authentic sense of place.

Avolta’s suite of digitally enabled and experience-driven retail zones further enhance the airport shopping journey. Standout concepts include Avolta’s signature Haute Parfumerie – Australia’s first, featuring a curated selection of niche fragrances. World of Whiskies offers an expansive range of premium expressions.
Avolta CEO Asia Pacific Freda Cheung commented: “This transformation represents one of the most significant retail investments we’ve made in the region. It reflects Avolta’s long-term commitment to enhancing the traveller experience and strengthening our presence in Australia.

“Together with Perth Airport, we are redefining the standards of duty free retail, delivering a world-class environment that meets the expectations of today’s global consumer.”
Perth Airport Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove noted: “We’re thrilled to welcome Avolta’s incredible new Perth Duty Free store to Terminal 1 international – a world-class retail experience that reflects the best of WA [Western Australia] and our great State.
“The upgrade marks an exciting step forward in delivering exceptional brands, choice and value and we have no doubt that the new offerings will be extremely popular with our passengers.”
