Next year’s ASUTIL Conference will land in Bogotá, Colombia for the first time on 19-20 June, South America’s duty free association (Asociación Sudamericana de Tiendas Libres) has confirmed.
As last year, the event will again be managed by Tax Free World Association (TFWA).
Bogotá remains an important hub for the duty free and travel retail industry in the South American and Caribbean regions.
Historic occasion
In a joint statement, ASUTIL and TFWA point towards a ‘vibrant and culturally rich city that can offer attendees an engaging atmosphere in which to discuss the latest developments within the industry’.
Newly appointed ASUTIL Secretary General Carlos Loaiza-Keel highlights the historic significance of this event, as ASUTIL’s treads its first steps in the country.
He points to the significant business opportunities available to attendees at the same time as emphasising the organisation’s commitment to fostering regional integration and development.
Former ASUTIL Secretary General José Luis Donagaray will appear as a special guest.
Erik Juul-Mortensen, President, TFWA said: “The South American duty free and travel market is both vibrant and dynamic and we at TFWA are honoured to once again be a part of this event and support the growth of the industry in the region.
“Last year’s conference proved to be very successful, and those who came were certainly motivated, enthusiastic and happy to have this event back in a region with such vast commercial potential. We look forward to meeting friends and colleagues from across South America in Bogotá.”
