Brazil’s new airport terminals
By Doug Newhouse |
While the debate continues as to whether Brazil will be ready to host the 2014 soccer World Cup, the government has announced a new plan for public-private partnerships to build, manage and operate new airport terminals at Viracopos and Guarulhos Sao Paulo.
The plan involves state-owned airport authority Infraero holding 49% shares in both ventures and private companies invited to take the majority holdings.
No further details are available at present, although the government is obviously keen to show it is acting to try and reassure outsiders that the country will be ready to host the World Cup in 2014, as well as the Olympic Games that are being held in Rio de Janeiro two years after that.
Brazil’s Civil Aviation Ministry has announced that it will release tender terms for the new contracts at the end of this year.
