The LaGuardia Terminal B project is valued at $5.1bn.

Vantage Airport Group (as part of LaGuardia Airport Partners) is to open the first phase of the new LaGuardia International Airport Terminal B tomorrow (1 December).

Spanning 243,000 sq ft, the east concourse is the first part of the terminal that will open with 11 gates set to be operational next month.

The concourse, which has 18 gates and will initially handle Air Canada, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines flights, is a key part of the $5.1bn LaGuardia Terminal B Project.

COMMERCIAL DISTRICT

The main part of the terminal (the headhouse), which includes ticketing and check-in, security, baggage claim and the main commercial district will open in 2020 along with the first gates in the western concourse.

As reported, Dufry-owned Hudson Group was awarded the Terminal B retail package by terminal operator LaGuardia Gateway Partners in August. LaGuardia Gateway Partners was was selected in 2016 by Governor Cuomo and the Port Authority to redevelop Terminal B, the largest public-private partnership in US aviation infrastructure history.

As part of the retail agreement, Hudson will design the first FAO Schwarz airport and travel destination store of its kind, featuring signature FAO Schwarz toys and games.

Shopping options will include independent New York book-seller McNally Jackson, LaGuardia Dufry Duty Free and MAC outlets.

LaGuardia Gateway Partners said: “When complete, Terminal B will completely redefine the guest experience at LaGuardia. The new terminal will offer best-in-class retail, food and beverage and amenities and will more than double the current number of offerings.

“Dual pedestrian bridges will span active airport taxi lanes — the first in the world— and connect the main part of the terminal to two island concourses. Passengers will walk above aircraft as they make their way to their gate, all while enjoying views of the Manhattan skyline.”
