Record September for international traffic in Brazil
By Charlotte Turner |
In September 2014, international traffic demand – measured by revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs), which are calculated by multiplying the number of revenue-paying passengers onboard by the distance travelled – for Brazilian airlines grew for the seventh consecutive month, up 8.7% compared with the same month of 2013.
The international supply – or Available Seat Kilometres (ASK ) – grew 1.9% in September 2014. Both the demand and supply reached 10-year international records for the month of September.
The number of passengers on international flights in September 2014 reached 541,200, an increase of 8.9% compared to September 2013. “This is the largest amount of passengers on international flights by Brazilian companies registered in September the last ten years,” said the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). “In the period January-September 2014, the number of passengers transported accumulated increase of 4.4% over the same period last year.”
The data mentioned above are available in the Report of the Air Transport Demand and Supply, released today by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), which also includes information on cargo, the market share of companies and a comparison with road transport air transportation.
