Bremen Airport in Germany is planning to issue RFPs to operate airside duty free, retail and food & beverage units, according to Helge Otten, Head of Property at Flughafen Bremen GmbH.
Airport management said: “With 2.77m passengers a year and almost 50 non-stop destinations in over 20 countries across Europe and North Africa, Bremen is one of Germany’s international airports offering duty free, retail and food & beverage operators unique market access in the north-west.
“The airport company, Flughafen Bremen GmbH, is going to invite specialist, experienced operators of retail and food & beverage premises to submit a tender for the establishment and operation of modern commercial facilities.”
Management adds that that as part of its space optimisation project, there are plans to merge two previously separate sections of the airport’s departure area. Provided funding approvals are confirmed, a marketplace ‘of attractive retail and dining outlets’ is then expected to be created directly beyond security checks to coincide with the beginning of the 2017 summer schedule.
Interested companies will be able to submit a joint tender for all spaces, or one or more of the following: Module 1 – Duty free & travel retail sales outlets in the main terminal building (approximately 550sq m) and the separate Ryanair departures area (approximately 95sq m); Module 2 – F&B facility in the departures area (approximately 129sq m) plus an additional mobile unit at the Non-Schengen gates; Module 3 – Shopping or additional F&B facility in the departures area (approximately 110sq m).
Bremen Airport states that the call for tenders will be forwarded at the same time, with the same content, to all bidders who express interest to Flughafen Bremen GmbH by 14/9/2015.
Expressions of interest should be sent informally by email to: [email protected] or by post to: Flughafen Bremen GmbH, Mr Helge Otten (DI3), Flughafenallee 20, D-28199 Bremen, Germany.
