TRBusiness Limited, a leading player in global travel retail digital media and events, is today (26 September) announcing a key update to its editorial leadership.
Following nine successful years with the company, Luke Barras-Hill is stepping away from his role as Editorial Director and Non-Executive Board member to emigrate to Canada, where he will begin a new chapter of his life with his young family.
The seasoned B2B journalist and editor was hired as Deputy Editor in 2017 before rising to Managing Editor in 2021.
He was appointed to the Board of Directors at the beginning of 2023 during a period of intense transformation for the business where he has since made significant leadership contributions in driving strategic growth across the company’s publishing and events divisions.
Faye Bartle, currently Managing Editor – Digital & Marketing, has been appointed Editorial Director, effective Friday 26 September, and will be responsible for overseeing TRBusiness’ content strategy across an acclaimed print, digital and events portfolio including TRBusiness.com, TRBusiness magazine and the company’s lineup of live and digital events.
The announcements come amid TRBusiness’ 28th year of trading in a year in which it has broken new ground with the highly successful fifth iteration of the TR Consumer Forum hosted in Amsterdam in June.
The company will shortly unveil a new look for the consumer-voted Global Travel Retail Awards ceremony, which takes place on Tuesday 30 September in Cannes during TFWA World Exhibition & Conference week.

Barras-Hill commented: “After nine years with TRBusiness, it is difficult to understate my connection to a company that I was welcomed into by owners Nigel Hardy and Janice Hook all those years ago. For that, I am truly grateful. Collectively, we have achieved a great deal in that time. That has been in no small part to the abundance of talent that exists within the team. It has been a real pleasure to contribute to the immeasurable growth of the TRBusiness portfolio and to a company that as recently as five years ago was solely a publisher of leading monthly magazines and a highly respected news service.
“Change is the only constant, as the old saying goes. I have seen a great deal of this in the industry over the years, sharing in the good times while weathering the difficult ones – and learning a great deal in the process. I will keep these memories with me as I negotiate a new, exciting chapter in my life, both professionally and personally. I would also like to thank my network of sources, contacts and friends for giving me their time and comments – both on- and off-record, on- and off-camera – over the years. Great people are the lifeblood of this industry and telling their compelling stories has been one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
“I have every faith that my extremely talented colleague Faye Bartle will attack her new role with the same dedication, passion and flair that she has demonstrated since joining the company in 2022, as TRBusiness enters a new and very exciting phase of development.”
Strong foundations the springboard for innovation…
Bartle said: “I’m thrilled to be stepping into the role of Editorial Director. Having learned so much from my predecessor, whose vision and leadership have shaped the editorial direction with clarity and purpose, I’m excited to continue that journey building on the strong foundations already in place.
“My own journey in travel retail began back in 2003 and over the years I’ve had the privilege of observing its evolution, resilience and incredible capacity for innovation. That experience, combined with my broader background leading consumer titles, will shape my approach as we look to deepen our connection to travelling shoppers, while always staying rooted in the business insights and B2B excellence our readership expects and relies upon. I look forward to delivering influential and timely content across our platforms.”

Nigel Hardy and Janice Hook, Co-owners & Joint Chief Executive Officers, added: “As Luke embarks on an exciting new chapter to relocate to Canada with his wife and daughter, we would like to express our deepest thanks for his commitment and dedication to driving levels of excellence that TRBusiness is renowned for. He has maintained the high editorial standards that are so important to our readers, and we are pleased that he will work with TRBusiness in a freelance capacity once settled, so it’s ‘au revoir’ for now.
“At the same time, we are delighted to announce the promotion of Faye Bartle, who has been with TRBusiness since 2022, to Editorial Director. With extensive experience in travel retail and consumer media, Faye has demonstrated outstanding editorial leadership, a keen eye for quality journalism and a deep understanding of our industry. She brings great focus, creativity and fresh ideas to the role, and we are excited about her vision for strengthening our editorial content, driving innovation, and ensuring TRBusiness continues to be a leading voice for the global travel retail sector.
“With Faye stepping into this senior editorial role, we remain committed to delivering trusted, innovative and impactful editorial for our partners and readers.”
