Qatar Duty Free (QDF) has underscored the importance of successful DF&TR partnerships after unveiling a Louis Vuitton Lounge endorsed by multiple Michelin-starred Chef Yannick Alléno at Hamad International Airport (HIA).

TRBusiness was on location yesterday evening (22 May) for the celebratory launch opening of the Louis Vuitton Lounge by Yannick Alléno, which is situated on the upper level of Louis Vuitton’s imposing boutique within the resplendent Orchard indoor tropical garden at HIA’s newly expanded terminal [scroll below for an image gallery].

The lounge is accessible to Qatar Airways’ Platinum and Gold Privilege Club members and on an invite-only basis for important customers of Louis Vuitton.

Around 90 guests, including sections of the press, senior executives from Qatar Airways Group and Louis Vuitton and a clutch of prominent lifestyle influencers, gathered to sample mouth-watering canapés, refreshing cocktails and delectable desserts to the backdrop of an energetic DJ set.

Louis Vuitton’s statement lounge follows the opening of its striking boutique located adjacent to the AB and C gate walkways and in close proximity to Tiffany & Co. Burberry and Gucci units.

“We continue to deliver for our customers, continue to put Hamad International Airport and Qatar on the map and it’s really important to continue to raise the bar as there is always somebody behind you,” commented Thabet Musleh, Senior Vice President, QDF.

Asked by TRBusiness about the marker that the opening lays down to QDF’s global travel retail competitors, Musleh responded: “For us, we don’t have competitors. We don’t look at anybody else. We look at our ourselves and continue to deliver what is best.

“What it does, is it sends [a message] to the industry that this is what happens when you work as a partnership. This is a three-way partnership between us, the number one luxury brand Louis Vuitton and the famous 16-star Michelin chef Yannick Alléno.”

Sharing his thoughts with TRBusiness on the significance of the opening in enhancing the passenger experience at HIA, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said: “Frankly speaking what we are doing for our passengers, I do not think any other airline has this vision: to give the quality and standard to our passengers that all the time we try to exceed.

“We have raised the bar so much. I don’t know what more we can do so we really have to go back to the drawing back and see what we can do better.

“This kind of destination I don’t think anyone would build. I know people have ideas, but those ideas are not translated into reality by an architect. It is done by the detailed human touch and individual vision and this is what we have achieved.”
