Jo Malone launches Orris & Sandalwood
By Doug Newhouse |
Jo Malone London is launching its new Orris & Sandalwood fragrance offering to its Cologne Intense collection this month at all Jo Malone London Travel Retail locations worldwide.
The Estée Lauder-owned company says the new fragrance is the creation of Celine Roux, Jo Malone London’s Fragrance Director and Pierre Négrin, Master Perfumer. It is also the first Cologne Intense that has not been inspired by the Middle East.
The company says it features ‘the surprising duality of orris, woody and floral and powdery and deep’. It adds that the scent of Tuscan hillsides with irises in bloom is also present with the fragrance’s top note comprising Violet; the heart note Orris; and the base note of sandalwood.
Commenting, Pierre Négrin said: “We wanted to work with orris because it’s an extremely precious ingredient in perfumery. Orris is the root of the iris plant and it has been harvested in Tuscany for centuries, originally by monks.
“This scent was about framing the orris to bring out its unique duality; it is both woody and powdery, floral and deep. We achieved this by using other woods, as well as painting a picture of the iris flower itself.”
