Diageo unveils John Walker & Sons King George V TR limited edition

Diageo Global Travel and Middle East has released a limited edition design of its award-winning John Walker & Sons King George V Blended Scotch Whisky as a travel retail exclusive, just in time for Chinese New Year.

The elegant arts and crafts style redesign marks the 80th anniversary of the awarding of the Royal Warrant to John Walker & Sons and boasts a luxurious burgundy finish to the outer pack.

An intricate motif and gold chandelier print evoke the art deco style of the time, while the sumptuous, warm colours are used to emphasise the regal nature of the super-premium whisky inside.

Described as ‘a sophisticated and vibrant blend,’ John Walker & Sons King George V is crafted exclusively using whiskies from distilleries in existence at the time of King George V, including precious casks of Port Ellen Single Malt from the Isle of Islay.

Gillian Naylor, Head of Johnnie Walker Marketing for Diageo GTME, says, “To mark the 80th anniversary we are proud to present a special limited edition design of this exquisite, hand-crafted blend exclusively for luxury travellers.

“The limited edition pack expresses the unique heritage of this remarkable blend and is the perfect gift, not only for Asian travellers during Chinese New Year, but for all discerning whisky consumers.”

Jim Beveridge, Johnnie Walker Master Blender, adds, “John Walker & Sons King George V is a highly distinctive, commemorative blend of rare and prestigious whiskies. It has an immense structure that has been hand-crafted to combine big flavours and a profound, mellow smokiness with elegance and depth.”

The limited edition travel retail exclusive is on sale until August 2015 and retails at RRP $494.
