The travel retailer is hosting a ‘Shop Just Before Departure’ online event and Hot Deal 25  until 11 May.

Lotte Duty Free is seeking to raise awareness of duty free and tax free shopping via a new online and offline marketing campaign to snare domestic and foreign shoppers.

The campaign adopts the ‘Shopping, Before you Leave’ slogan for Korean travellers, while ‘Tax Free is Good, Duty Free is Better’ targets international consumers.

It is the latest attempt by the South Korean travel retailer to strengthen its competitiveness by amplifying the convenience of shopping amid a turbulent period for the business.

Lotte will market the campaigns at high-trafficked areas in Seoul such as major subway stations that are frequented by tourists.

To mark the campaign launch, Lotte is offering discounts of up to 70% on 41 revered brands such as Ferragamo, Tory Burch and Johnnie Walker at its offline shops until 4 May.

Additionally, up to KRW30,000/US$21 in LDF Pay rewards will be handed to customers that present flight tickets for April-May at Lotte Duty Free stores in the city until 31 May.

A further KRW5,000 in LDF Pay rewards is available for customers that certify their duty free shopping on SNS.

Raffles and giveaways

Up to KRW20,000 of LDF Pay rewards will be offered to Korean customers up to two weeks before departure, running until 8 June.

A Hot Deal 25 event, giveaways and a special exhibition, ‘Shop Just Before Departure’ will run at Lotte’s online duty free shop until 11 May.

Through the Hot Deal 25 event, 25 products will be available from popular cosmetics brands such as Aesop, Decorté and SK2 to fashion items like Maison Kitsuné cardigans, discounted by up to 65%.

Prestige alcohol labels including Kavalan Grand Reserve No.2, Dassai Umeche, Cognac XO Border Family Rivers and Maotai have joined the promotion.

The convenience and time-limited benefits of tax free and duty free shopping are being advertised to Koreans and tourists alike.

Special coupons of up to 15% off have been prepared for the event and a 10x L. Point accumulation benefit will be provided to customers on a first-come, first-served basis, with up to 50,000 L. Points distributed via a prize draw.

A raffle event in collaboration with Jeju Air and the Macau Tourism Board will reward domestic customers who purchase over $200 at Lotte Internet Duty Free and select the duty free delivery option, with various prizes including a Jeju Air Macau round-trip air ticket.

A Lotte Duty Free official said: “We have prepared various promotions and discount benefits so that customers can enjoy the charm of duty free shopping to the fullest through the new marketing campaign. We will continue to strive to convey Lotte Duty Free’s unique value through various marketing activities that meet customers’ expectations.”
