This month, work will commence on the expansion of Perth Airport’s T1 international departures lounge on level 2 (after outbound Customs and security screening) complementing the recently upgraded JR/Duty Free store and luxury watch shop.

The work is part of a $141m international departures expansion and refurbishment, which will include the introduction of new retail and dining outlets.

The airport is investing a total of $200m in its Domestic Pier; $80m in in the expansion of international arrivals and it is spending $30m on the expansion and upgrade of Domestic Terminal 3 (T3).

“The next 12 months will see some significant changes at Perth Airport with the completion of several projects in the current $1bn redevelopment programme, which are set to change the travel experience for passengers and visitors to the airport,” said the airport in March.

The new 927sq m floor space in Perth Airport’s T1 international departures lounge will include additional seating for more than 500 passengers near Gates 54 and 55. It will also include a ‘six-in-one’ food and beverage centre offering a bar, cafe, juice bar, bakery, deli and pizzeria as well as a specially designed play area for children with ‘family friendly’ seating nearby.

This work is scheduled for completion in late 2015.

The airport is also working on the expansion of the T1 forecourt to create a 27 metre landscaped plaza across the front of the terminal, with the first phase directly in front of the new Domestic Pier. This is scheduled for completion in mid-2015. Later in the project, work will commence on a central retail and dining plaza.
