Hour Passion, part of the retail arm of the Swatch group, has released details of its latest door – an 85sqm store in Terminal 2 of Nanjing Airport, China, which opened officially this September.
The launch brings the number of Chinese airport stores for the company to 10, with a presence at Chongqing, Changsha, Beijing (x 2 boutiques), Hanghzou, Wuhan, Xi’An, Chengdu (a 92sqm store opened at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in January 2014) and now Nanjing.
The latest door houses a handpicked assortment of watches and jewellery to reflect the passenger mix, including Rado, Longines, Hamilton, Tissot, Calvin Klein, Mido, Swatch and Flik Flak.
In Europe the expansion of Hour Passion has been similarly dynamic, with four new airport stores opening in 2014 alone. April was the busiest month with doors established at Dublin Airport, Madrid Barajas terminals 4 and 4S and then an 85sqm boutique in Milan Malpensa Airport, Terminal 1B. There are now 39 travel retail locations within the Hour Passion portfolio.
The multibrand watch and jewellery concept reports it has also made inroads downtown, with expansion into New York and Las Vegas, Poland and Barcelona over the second half of 2014.
