SSP wins Hurghada with $3.3m bid

By Charlotte Turner |

SSP (Select Service Partner) was awarded the Hurghada Airport Food & Beverage contract yesterday after offering a year one MAG of $3.3m at current passenger levels.

The food and beverage company’s premium-weighted offer is equivalent to $1.80 per departing passenger at present levels.

TRBusiness understands that SSP won the contract after an aggressive auction with Flemingo International which lasted more than three hours. As reported earlier, this is a busy week for the airport, with its results of the ongoing Hurghada duty free tender expected later this week. The existing concession is currently operated by EgyptAir Duty Free Shops.

Hurghada is the second busiest airport in Egypt after Cairo and its route network consists of scheduled passenger services to Cairo and direct connections to several European destinations. Currently, more than 40 airlines operate charter flights mostly to Western and Eastern Europe, with well established German, Russian and Scandinavian route services.
