Bahrain Duty Free upgrades Shop & Collect

By Charlotte Turner |

Bahrain Duty Free has relaunched an upgraded Shop & Collect facility for its customers at Bahrain International Airport which the operator says has ‘substantially reduced’ the time needed to process shipments.

The retailer also says that it allows for better communication with the customer during the process. Under the new scheme customers will receive an SMS within 45 seconds of completing the order at the cash point.

They will also receive another message reminding them of their order one hour before the collection time; and a final one within 45 seconds of collecting the item.

“The primary purpose of the upgrade was to simplify the process for the customer; and keep in contact with them throughout the process.

“From our testing, the feedback from our customers has been particularly encouraging; which assists us in our goal to continue offering world beating service to our customers” outlined Bahrain Duty Free Head of HR and Marketing Bassam Al Wardi.

The retailer has sectioned off an area within Arrivals where customers pick up their purchases. “Specially trained staff aim to ensure that the pick-up process takes no less than 30 seconds from arrival to the counter to leaving,” says the BDF.

Shipment details are highlighted on a display screen in the area; and customers can pick up using either their sms or their original receipt for verification purposes. A number of incentives are also in place for potential customers; aimed at them shopping at departures; flying light and collecting upon arrival.
