McGregor launches menswear at Brussels

By Caroline Sargent |

International fashion brand McGregor has opened a menswear store at Brussels Airport, its first official location in European travel retail, following a pop-up launch in Amsterdam last year.

McGregor’s core brands McGregor Sportswear, Distinction and ACM (Automobile Club de Monaco) collections are now available in the spacious 140 sqm location.

At the end of March, in the presence of King Philip and Prime Minister Charles Michel, the ‘Connector’ building where McGregor’s new menswear store is situated was inaugurated at the airport in Zaventem.

More than 20 million passengers are expected to travel through this zone over the coming year – positive news for the brand as it establishes a presence in the TR channel.

AIRCOMMERCE TO DISTRIBUTE ACM COLLECTION

In addition to the shop opening, McGregor is preparing to launch its Automobile Club Monaco collection for travel retail distribution in close collaboration with travel retail business accelerator AirCommerce.

Inspired by the rich history of one of the world’s most legendary Grand Prix Formula 1, McGregor has launched its Limited Edition event collection to coincide with the 73rd Grand-Prix Automobile de Monaco this May.

Designed together with the prestigious Automobile Club Monaco, McGregor will be launching the range in international airport locations from this month.

Mike Overdijk, Director McGregor Rally & Racing Division with responsibility for travel retail says, “We are delighted to be targeting travel retail with this collection. Our travel retail strategy is in its relative early stages but it is an arena we are exploring heartily.

“We are specifically targeting worldwide Grand Prix (airport) locations with pop-up shops or standalone boutique opportunities where the Automobile Club Monaco collection fits in with the race calendar.”

McGregor first launched in travel retail in May 2014 with a standalone pop-up store at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The pop-up featured a full size Formula One racing car complete with simulator race experience to engage and convert customers.
