Ports of Jersey is at the start of a process to redevelop the airport terminal over the coming years, including a new duty free shop, a new restaurant and investment in new technologies to enhance the passenger experience.
The airport announced its intention to create comfortable seating areas for passengers to relax in before they fly, including a space on the first floor with sea and runway views.
In addition, an ‘open to all’ roof terrace (subject to building and security approvals) between the old and new terminal buildings, a play area for children, as well as a quieter area, are set to be fitted under current plans.
Finally, designs for an improved departure and arrivals experience will be released in 2025, as Ports of Jersey finalise the details for Jersey Airport’s redevelopment.
New lounge
This follows a previous statement whereby Jersey Airport announced its intention to create a new premium lounge with panoramic sea views and complimentary catering, due to open next year.
No1 Lounges will run the facility, bringing seasonal hot dishes, snacks and premium drinks, as well as unlimited Wi-Fi and charging points as standard, with breakout spaces suitable for groups travelling together.
Matt Thomas, Chief Executive for Ports of Jersey, said: “I am delighted to announce our partnership with No1 Lounges, and we are looking forward to being able to provide this stylish sanctuary from the busy terminal. No1 Lounges have a reputation for delivering outstanding customer service, a welcoming atmosphere, and a memorable experience for every guest, and we are confident they will provide a relaxing environment to unwind before a flight.
We are excited to offer this service, provided by an award-winning company which successfully operates 15 UK airport lounges.”
Rami El-Dahshan, Managing Director of No1 Lounges, added: “This is such an exciting moment for No1 Lounges, and we’re thrilled to be part of this ambitious project. Jersey has an incredible energy and unique charm, and we’re passionate about creating a lounge experience that reflects the spirit of the island.
Hot on the heels of our latest opening at Heathrow, this project is a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to travellers. It’s not just about building a space—it’s about immersing ourselves in the culture and collaborating with the local community to create something really special. We can’t wait to bring it to life.”
Airport Master Plan
This development is part of a long-term plan to transform Jersey Airport and create smooth and easy travel experience for our passengers.
Improvements have been taking place over recent months to passengers’ journeys, including the latest security machines, new body scanners and a dedicated Fast Track service. An Airport Operations Centre now brings all operational areas together, and feedback on the enhanced Assisted Travel service shows that it better supports those who need help to travel through the airport.
The next phase of work, due to start at the end of next year, will blend existing heritage with modern facilities to reconfigure the Departures Terminal.

Thomas added: “Our aim is to create a friendly, easy-to-use airport, fit for the needs and expectations of today’s travellers, that Jersey can be truly proud of. We want our airport to celebrate Jersey’s unique heritage and identity, creating a relaxing start to customers’ journeys.”
As work begins, passengers will see hoardings in Departures as self-service bag drop terminals are installed. Access to the upstairs ‘Atrium’ lounge has been restricted as work on the No1 Lounge begins, ahead of its opening next Summer.
Departures and Arrivals
An improved Fast Track process now allows passengers to get their journey off to a swift start with a priority route to security, allowing more time to relax, eat and shop.
Self-service bag drop will allow passengers to save time and drop their luggage quickly and efficiently. Check-in agents will be available, so passengers can choose how to start their airport journey.
A redesigned Departures Terminal, which is recognisably ‘Jersey’, will create a vibrant, comfortable seating area, and a more enjoyable environment to relax and wait for flights.

An improved range of shopping, food and drinks in the Departures Terminal will give passengers greater choice.
No1 Lounge will provide an all-inclusive experience for those passengers who choose a premium offer as part of their journey.
Plans are being developed to ensure the listed 1937 building will be integrated into an Arrivals building, and maintain accessibility for all passengers.
Accessibility and Sustainability
Work will continue with local organisations and the Government of Jersey’s Disability Inclusion Team, and a panel of passengers with lived experience will provide personal insight as these plans are shaped.
Work will continue with stakeholders to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency in the terminals and explore renewable energy generation.
Pick up and drop off facilities will be reviewed, to ensure they provide an efficient experience.
Working with partners, greener transport options will be explored to encourage reduced emissions from passenger journeys to and from the Airport.
