Ivy Wong, Senior Vice President, Airside Concessions, Changi Airport Group (CAG) has joined the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association board with immediate effect.

Wong was elected unanimously to take up the vacant seat on APTRA’s board following the resignation of Thibaut de Poutier de Sone of Pernod Ricard, who has moved to Paris in his new role as Executive Vice President Commercial in the company.

Appointed to her post at CAG, the operator of Singapore Changi Airport, in December 2009, Wong (left) oversees the concessions business of the airport group within the departure and arrival transit lounges. She leads the team on strategic planning, space development, leasing, operations and promotions of all airside retail, F&B and services.

Changi’s three terminals serve some 100 airlines flying to over 250 cities in about 60 countries worldwide. They have have an annual handling capacity of 66m passengers. Changi handled more than 51m passenger movements in 2012, a new record, resulting in over S$1.8bn ($1.42bn) in travel retail sales last year.

Jaya Singh, President APTRA says: “Given the extraordinary success of Singapore Changi Airport as an international hub and as a retail destination, we will value Ivy’s expertise on all matters relating to airport retail. The duty free and travel retail industry is faced with multiple challenges from well-meaning but misguided organisations and regulators and we will need all the tools in our toolbox to realise this industry’s potential.”

The geographical area covered by APTRA includes countries in Eastern Asia, South Eastern Asia, South Central Asia and Oceania.
