AIA issues retail store tender at Main Terminal Building

The deadline for bids to operate the retail concession at Athens International Airport is tabled for 14 November.

Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (AIA) is inviting interested parties to tender for a single retail concession at its Main Terminal Building (MTB).

Situated on level 2, the unit spans 64sq m and is located centrally in the check-in area.

The concession’s operation excludes the following categories: news & convenience, alcoholic drinks, food & beverage, perfumes & cosmetics (including natural beauty products), confectionery, tobacco and sunglasses. The deadline for submissions is 14 November.

“The participant shall decide upon the optimal retail concept for the area, taking into consideration its characteristics described in the tender package,” states AIA.

STRONG TRAFFIC GROWTH

Eligible person(s), group of companies and/or consortia should possess at least two years’ experience operating a similar retail facility in Greece or abroad and a minimum of one concession in the stated sales field.

A minimum turnover of €400,000 ($452,000) from similar operations during 2017 is also required.

Proposals will be judges on the following areas: retail concept, design and development, and financial compensation.

Total passenger traffic at AIA reached 21.7m (+8.6%) in 2017. Of that total, 14.4m (+12%) was international traffic.

Passenger volumes to September this year reached 18.7m (+11.5%).

The airport recently launched a currency exchange services tender covering a total of 15 units under two concessions across its MTB and Satellite Terminal Building (STB).

The deadline for submissions is 1 November.
