Maui Jim stages promotion at Gatwick Airport

By Charlotte Turner |

Maui Jim sunglasses, which specialize in polarized lenses, will be staging a ‘colourful’, high-profile promotion during April 2014 at the two WDFG stores in London Gatwick’s South terminal.

A pop-up store display features two backlit polage screens, to demonstrate the polarisation of Maui Jim lenses, as well as visuals from the company’s brand new, advertising campaign.

To gear the staff up for the event, Maui Jim trainer, Chad Smith spent two days training the WDF sales staff at Gatwick South, Gatwick North and also at Heathrow. A staff sales incentive scheme will run throughout the month of April.

Staff will be wearing Maui Jim T-shirts and flower leis, and will be on hand at the pop-up stores to explain to customers the unique selling points of Maui Jim lenses and demonstrate, using a polage screen, how Maui Jim’s patented PolarizedPlus2 lens technology optimises light and colour.

A broad range of Maui Jim’s latest skus is on display including selected styles from the new PureAir™ collection of sunglasses that combine the company’s ultra-light MauiPure™ lens technology with an ultra-light frame technology.

“Maui Jim sunglasses almost sell themselves once a customer tries them on and experiences the superb clarity and the fabulous colours,” comments Sonja Truchon-Bartes, Maui Jim Sales Manager Travel Retail Europe, “and it is that first contact which is crucial to a sale. Through this promotion we hope to bring the Maui Jim ‘Aloha’ spirit to thousands more travellers.”

Customers who purchase a pair of Maui Jims during the promotion receive a free Maui Jim Cablz Sunglass Retainer or a Maui Jim Crystal USB worth £14.99.

Later this spring at many European airports customers purchasing Maui Jims will receive a Maui Jim travel pillow as a gift with purchase.

The gwp offer will operate through late April, May and June at airports across Europe with various retailers including Runways Duty Free, Belgian Skyshops, Gebr Heinemann, Kappe Schiphol and Nuance.
