London Heathrow’s F&B concessionaires are helping to kick off the October half-term period at the airport with some Roald Dahl inspired dishes.
Roald Dahl was a British novelist, short story writer, poet, fighter pilot and screenwriter, whose children’s books have gone down in British history.
With 1.8 million passengers set to take off between 17 October and 3 November, some of Roald Dahl’s most iconic characters “will be on hand to make sure each and every journey is smooth, entertaining and fun,” says the operator.
“Families travelling through Heathrow will be treated to swizzfiggling fun, swashboggling sausage and mash and squiggly spaghetti as the airport celebrates the world’s number one storyteller, Roald Dahl this October half term.”
‘MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM’
The activity marks a unique partnership between Heathrow, the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, Puffin Books and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Across all terminals at Heathrow, passengers will be able to experience; Roald Dahl Mischief and Mayhem storytelling and craft sessions for children; Puffin Books’ Roald Dahl ‘bags of tricks’ activity sheets in restaurants to keep kids busy and entertained during meal time and the chance to take a unique holiday snap with a Matilda in a photo frame.

“To make sure little tummies are ready for take off, “kids eat free” offers will be available with a special Roald Dahl twist to the menu including fresh Mudburgers, Swashboggling sausage and mash and Squiggly spaghetti at dedicated restaurants across Heathrow.”
Four airport restaurants will be involved in the partnership; Est Café in Terminal 1, Oriel and Rhubarb in Terminal 3, Dining Street in Terminal 4 and Huxleys in Terminal 5.
COMPETITION TO WIN FLIGHTS
Claire Field, Acting Director of the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, said. “We are absolutely thrilled to be taking some of the Roald Dahl magic to Heathrow this half-term. Roald Dahl famously wrote “watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it”.
“This half-term, there will be Roald Dahl secrets and fun to be discovered in each and every terminal so keep your eyes peeled at all times.”
