Second new DAY dawns at Copenhagen Airport

Danish fashion house Day Birger Et Mikkelsen opened its second flagship shop last week at Copenhagen Airport, featuring its ‘special concept’ of presenting customers with multiple sensory level experiences, while its existing shop is set to be converted into a DAY Accessories shop this summer, offering scarves, bags, jewellery and other items.
“We are proud to be the first location of the brand new DAY concept store, a place where people’s senses are awakened at several levels,” said Lise Ryevad, Director, Airport Sales, at Copenhagen Airports A/S. “It is important to us to give our passengers an exciting experience every time they visit Copenhagen Airport and the new DAY store very much lives up to that objective.”
The DAY brand is described by the airport as a mix of ’fashion, fascination and fusion’, with design inspiration from overseas and an emphasis on the craft of manufacturing.
East meets west ‘with a special twist of Scandinavia’ is how the store fusion and flavour is described, as Keld Mikkelsen, founder and Chairman of DAY explained: “We find inspiration from all the places in the world we visit; it shows in all our collections. That made the opening of the large DAY flagship store at the centre of the shopping area at Copenhagen Airport a logical step as it brings us close to where it all started.
“We have created an atmosphere in our store that will inspire travellers and make them feel welcome in our unique DAY universe.”
The new DAY store at Copenhagen Airport features a red terrazzo floor from Italy laid in a herringbone pattern that is designed to create a sense of soft waves, while the ceiling has been constructed to resemble ‘a bright floating cloud’ with a luminous DAY pattern in the middle.
DAY’s collections include the lines Day Main Line, 2nd Day and Day Home, which are sold in more than a thousand shops in 25 countries worldwide. The new store is located between Terminal 3 and Nytorv – after security and Gebr. Heinemann’s duty and tax free store.
