Groundbreaking TRMarketplace earns big plaudits

By Luke Barras-hill |

Industry-wide praise continues to flood in for TRMarketplace – travel retail’s inaugural digital meeting and conference forum – following the conclusion of a hugely successful business networking and insights week (28 September – 2 October).

As reported, TRBusiness and partner Bluedog Productions have extended the popular TRMarketplace video meeting facility until Friday 9 October in response to a swell in registrations, offering brands the opportunity to dedicate more time to connecting with new visitors.

Thereafter, TRMarketplace will remain open for a further six months in a product showcase format, with all webinars available to view for the duration.

HIGH ENGAGEMENT LEVELS

Professional networking website LinkedIn remains abuzz with reaction to the digital event organised by TRBusiness and Bluedog Productions, with rave reviews on the seamlessness of the networking functions and comprehensive Knowledge & Insights programme run in partnership with m1nd-set and the Institute of International Retail (IIR). As part of an action-packed week comprising numerous business meetings, presentations and networking opportunities involving retail buyers, brands, airports, cruise operators, airlines and many other stakeholders, TRMarketplace hosted 11 category-specific webinars and interactive workshops.

These covered each of the major product categories, with bespoke sessions dedicated to digital & data, China and Korea, cruise, inflight and the first Travel Retail Sustainability Forum (TRSF).

Each webinar placed a strong emphasis on ensuring maximum panellist and audience interaction and engagement, in doing so departing from the often long and unwieldy presentations characteristic of many conference formats.

A compelling opening keynote on Monday 28 September entitled ‘Embracing and leading through change’ featured addresses from Dubai Duty Free Chief Operating Officer Ramesh Cidambi, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Director of Consumer Products & Services Tanja Dik and Kepios/DataReportal Founder and CEO Simon Kemp.

The keynote epitomised the strength and resilience of DF&TR during a period of monumental change and adaptation, with innumerable takeaways on forging cast-iron retailing partnerships to enable the industry to survive and flourish during and after the global coronavirus pandemic.

Fervent discussion on fostering greater communications, data sharing and developing the partnership model was evidenced during the Travel Retail 2:0 session, while a two-part session with behavioural change and commercial strategy expert Mark Taylor shone the spotlight firmly on strategies for evolving DF&TR in the face of adversity to double profit for stakeholders.

As reported, TRBusiness and m1nd-set were proud to announce the winners of the consumer-voted 2020 Travel Retail Awards on Tuesday 29 September.

Meanwhile, on Friday 2 October TRMarketplace hosted an exclusive wines & spirits webinar in which m1nd-set and IWSR unveiled their new and unique data product for travel retail – 1nSpirit – The Wine & Spirits Travel Retail Data Hub.

TRMarketplace would not be possible without the support of the many sponsors and Brand Hub partners and TRBusiness would like to reiterate its thanks to all of them for making TRMarketplace a reality.

An impressive line up of brands (see below) continue to showcase new product launches and are seeking to discuss innovation-driven strategies for post-Covid travel retail through the Brand Hubs – and you can still register by clicking below.
