Louis de Bourgoing to retire from WH Smith; will assume consultancy role

Louis de Bourgoing is to retire from WH Smith mid-August.

WH Smith International Chairman and Business Development Director, Louis de Bourgoing is to retire from the business, effective mid-August.

De Bourgoing, who joined the company in May 2010 after 11 years with Lagardère Travel Retail, will continue to work with WH Smith on a consultancy basis. A replacement will be announced in due course.

Phil McNally, International Managing Director, WH Smith commented: “When Louis joined WH Smith, the company had one overseas store in Paris. In nine years, Louis has been instrumental in the international expansion of WH Smith.

“We now have over 315 WH Smith stores in 30 countries, not including the recent InMotion acquisition in North America. We would like to thank Louis for everything he has achieved during his time at WH Smith. He leaves behind a strong legacy.”
