New Hudson LGA Terminal B stores to bring ‘spirit and vibrancy’ of New York

Hudson will debut its new NYC Aglow by Hudson concept at New York LaGuardia International Airport Terminal B.
Hudson Group is continuing its expansion at New York LaGuardia International Airport Terminal B.
The Dufry-owned company, which was awarded the terminal B retail package for the Eastern Concourse in 2018, runs more than 1,000 stores in airports, commuter hubs and tourist destinations across North America.
Its new seven-year contract covers the reimagined 850,000sq ft arrivals and departures hall which opens to the public tomorrow (13 June). Hudson, which will debut two new localised travel concepts (NYC Aglow by Hudson and Mad Ave Market by Hudson) has vowed to bring the ‘spirit and vibrancy of the Big Apple to life.’
Having opened its first store at the airport in 1987, Hudson will reaffirm the company’s long-standing commitment to its local roots and airport partners.
The travel convenience store openings align with LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP’s) and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s (PANYNJ) redevelopment plans. Hudson has worked closely with PANYNJ for more than 30 years to offer travellers what they are looking for.
LOCAL COMMUNITY REPRESENTATION
This includes electronics, healthy grab-and-go food offerings, health and beauty products and most recently an assortment of Personal Protective Equipment products.
The addition of the two stores will increase its Terminal B retail footprint to nine outlets. Existing shops include New York-based brands McNally Jackson and FAO Schwarz.
Roger Fordyce, Chief Executive Officer, Hudson Group said: “Airports are a strong representation of the local communities they serve and are truly the first and last impressions that a traveler has of a city. We have a responsibility to embrace the local history and flavour of a city in our store designs and offerings, so we’re honoured to introduce concepts to LaGuardia that represent the storied history of the airport, the city and Hudson alike.”
Inspired by the New York City building skylines, NYC Aglow welcomes travellers with its ‘beckoning storefront’ and pays homage to the history of New York. Hudson’s second concept, Mad Ave Market is inspired by the golden age of advertising in the 1920s.
Complete with art-deco inspired designs, the concept boasts Hudson’s self-checkout capability and creates nostalgia around iconic New York street, Madison Avenue.
Both stores will operate under the Hudson LaGuardia Retailers joint venture, a partnership between Hudson and its Airport Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program partners (Branded Works Inc, Byrd Retail Group, LLC and Kelle Communications Group, Inc.). Travellers will have an opportunity to shop local with a selection of locally-sourced gifts and snacks.
Stewart Steeves, Chief Executive Officer, LaGuardia Gateway Partners commented: “New York City is considered to be one of the world’s greatest destinations for shopping and the new Terminal B is no exception.
“Hudson provides all of the classic travel essentials that every New Yorker and visitor needs and we’re excited to partner with them in the new terminal.”
