Singapore Changi Airport opens first premium Lacoste unit in Asia

By Kevin Rozario |

French casual wear brand Lacoste has opened its second standalone store at Singapore at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 – in the departure area.

The large 95sq m unit introduces the apparel house’s new ‘premium standard’ retail concept to Asia.

The concept takes inspiration from modern architecture and uses pine wood flooring and backwalls, punctuated by dark oak elements, to accentuate its upscale look (see images and click to enlarge).

Lacoste – with global sales of €1.8bn ($2.36bn) in 2012 – has its iconic polo shirts displayed by model in the ‘Polo Lounge’, which consists of a polo wall and bar that showcase the brand’s array of colours and fits to create a strong visual focal point (see below).

The T3 store is focused on men, offering a full range of lifestyle casual and sportswear products while corporate and leisure travellers will also find the Regate & City Golf Collection. This is described by Lacoste as “a fresh metro twist on classic inspired pieces suitable for the winter”.

Women’s sportswear, as well as an extensive selection of the brand’s bestselling bags and footwear, is also featured, with a limited assortment for kids plus some accessories.

Other store highlights include a Heritage Wall that captures the world of the brand by documenting its history and details of founder, tennis champion René Lacoste in 1933.

Lacoste says that the new concept is “in line with the brand’s strategic direction to be the leading premium casual wear brand”.
