CPH March international traffic +4%

By Doug Newhouse |

Copenhagen Airport’s international passenger traffic rose 4.1% to 1,819.732 in March, with London, Stockholm and Oslo the top three destinations.

Total passenger numbers for March were up by 4.8% to a record 2m year on year with the year-to-date increase in passenger numbers standing at 4.3%.

Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airport said: “We had healthy growth in March, and traffic to the United States especially saw strong growth by as much as 61% thanks to Norwegian’s new routes to Los Angeles, New York and Fort Lauderdale and the full-year effect of the SAS service to San Francisco. Those routes give our hub a stronger position.”

The airport added that the March resulted was favourably affected since Easter – with its many low-travel-activity days – is not until April this year.

The airport added: “In short, we can say that the late Easter yielded stronger traffic figures for March, and that traffic performance in April is therefore expected to be weak. Around Easter and the other Danish public holidays in the spring, there are also more leisure travellers and fewer business travellers than normal.”
